City Garrisons

To garrison a Pacified city there must be at least as many troops as the City Resistance Value. Only Mounted, Infantry, or Archer units can garrison a city. Siege Engineers cannot garrison a city. City Wall points do not count for its garrison.

Example: The Austrians have captured the port city of Venice, which is 7 GPv in size and has 12 Wall Points. They must garrison the city with at least ( 12/2 + 7^½ + 1 = 9) points of infantry or cavalry.

Table 2-20 is also used for Cities. The majority of inhabitants in a city are listed. They may not be the same as those listed in a region. In Lords 51 a city controlled by another nation in part of whole could be within the confines of a region by some arrangement.

Maximum Status For A Region

The maximum control status your Nation can achieve in a region through normal diplomacy or conquest will be the lower of the two statuses as determined from the following tables. With the Age of Awakening Wiki the tables have been reduced to make the players lives just a little easier.

Note that a higher status is possible if a region or city is colonized. Long term diplomatic conversion may also take place based upon a single target region.

Fortresses

A number might appear on the status report just after the garrison in brackets. This construct is a foundation for a castle or citadel. Basically any specialized military structure designed to help defend a region, harbor, or city. The number in brackets is the number of Wall Points that make up the Fortress. The act of building the Fortress itself generates the 1st Wall Point and support buildings allowing for the formation of mid and heavy sized units.

A port Fortress is indicated by a trailing p code, while a Fortress built within a City is indicated by a trailing c code. A port fortress within a city is indicated by a pc code.

Cities

Below each Region line in the Regions List, there may be a second, indented, line that describes the city that resides in that region. Cities, like regions, are described by a general format:

  • The City Name, followed an opening bracket...
  • the Gold Point Value (GPv), followed by a plus (+) sign
  • the City Public Works, followed by an (i), which indicates…
  • the City Industrial Capacity
  • the City Type Code ( p marks a Port, for example)
  • Wall Points, followed by a closing bracket
  • The City Resistance Value in angle brackets (like so: <4>)
  • Control Status of the city
  • Race of the city population
  • A colon and then the City Garrison
  • Any applicable Notes.
  • Prevalent Language of the city population - at the moment 1 per race.
  • A notation to indicate any other nation that also has a control status in this City.

City and Fortress Industry

Each City and Fortress has an Industrial Capacity, which is used for building mid sized units and ships. To be utilized for building units, the City or Fortress has to be within the Homeland Build Zone. The Industrial Capacity of a City or Fortress can be used outside the HBZ for building Wallpoints.

Each City has an Industrial Capacity calculated using the following equation, rounded up:
