Campaign Twenty-Eight
Turn Twenty-Eight
1579 C.E ~ 1581 C.E.
Notation for the spread of the Plague 'Allah's
Curse':
Plague:
City (GPV Lost) in Region (PWB Lost)
The Plague seems to have run its course completely. The specific effects for
each location were:
Cities: Lost 1D6 GPV (PWB and +Mcap over
the new level were lost)
Fleets: Lost 10% to 100% of MSP (Merchant Fleets AND Trade Routes)
Regions: Lost 5% to 50% of PWB
Armies: Lost 5% to 50% of all Units
Leaders: Suffered a Leader fate roll at the END of the turn.
Cities which were completely destroyed may have their initial level rebuilt at the Sacked City Cost of 10 GP and 10 NFP. I suspect a lot of people will want to look at their trade routes. With cities being the majority struck, many nations will be over the MSP capacity on plague cities. This means their trade routes may not be able to grow and you'll want to rebase them at new cities so they can do so.

The War of the Boy Kings
With the entry of Austria into the war, Mathias of Hungary now faced a battle on two fronts. He looked on passively as Austria conquered Croatia and her city, unwilling to vacate the homeland with so many Muslim forces in the area. He was soon rewarded for his caution, as a combined Bosnian-Mameluke-Mercenery host crossed into Alfold.
The Muslims commanded a total of 43,200 Cavalry; 41,400 Infantry; 94 Siege Companies; and 160 Artillery Batteries. Mathias, meanwhile, led a force of 16,000 Cavalry; 28,000 Infantry; 40 Siege Companies; and 150 Field Fortifications. While the Bosnians were in good order, the Mamelukes had no supply line to speak of, and the men were already demoralized upon the initial clash. Mathias was able to use his defending forts viciously, and routed the Muslims from the field early. They leave almost 30,000 dead on the field. Forty of his fortifications are destroyed.
The Muslims regroup inside Bosnian territory, and decide the numbers aren't favorable, and wait out the campaign season. Meanwhile, Austria has finished in Croatia, and moves to attack Bakony. With the Muslims out of action, Mathias moves to react. Leaving his forts behind, he faces the Austrian command of 16,000 Cavalry; 15,600 Infantry; 40 Siege Companies; and 40 Artillery Batteries. The Austrian command comes up with an excellent battle plan, but just cannot overcome the Hungarian advantage in just about every troop type. The Austrians withdraw, leaving 12,000 dead, including two leaders. Mathias chases them into Croatia and forces another fight. Ill-prepared this time around, the Austrian forces are crushed, leaving 17,000 dead. Mathias regroups, having lost less than 3,000 men all told.

Plague: Nui (3 GPV) in Senegal
Agro is sold to Poland as part of rutter purchase deal. Priests to Ali and Nui, before the plague hits in hopes of counteracting the Catholic presence.
The Emperor ordered the Songhay warhost on the march against the Songhay. He would not tolerate the barbarians on his border. Marching over 70,000 troops, he encountered the Asante passively overseeing their new territories. The Asante were quick to respond, however, with over 50,000 of their own men. The two forces clashed on the border of Kanuri and Daza, fighting light skirmishes for near a month before the true battle was joined.
It would be the Songhay artillery and Cavalry that would win the day, and reap a deadly harvest on the retreating horde. Every Asante warrior would be cut down upon the retreat. Still, the Songhay had lost close to 10,000 of their own men on the field. When the Asante army destroyed, the tribal points and captured slaves spread out, falling into the empty lands nearby.
