TURN 11 ORDERS DUE BACK BY Friday, 20 December, 1159pm to eddief6@ix.netcom.com
ANNOUNCEMENTS AND GM COMMENTS
There is a Lords20 maillist at lords20-l@lists.pbmgames.com for general Lords 20 discussion topics and announcements. Email to it and put "subscribe {your email address}" in the body to get on it.
I have had a few players send along stuff for me to please put in the fax, so I had an idea. My first, granted, but I thought I'd share it with you anyways. I am open to the concept of players composing significant portions of their own newsfax entry, with several caveats. They follow. This is a test, and may or may not be continued after a couple turns. We'll see how it works.
1. No self-glorification
2. No spoofing (using the newsfax to obfuscate of misdirect attention from your actions)
(2.a. Intel actions can cause exceptions to 2.)
3. One to four paragraphs is ideal. More can be alright if it's creative, and a little humor always helps.
4. Beware! Official stuff that's normally too small to read follows... As Campaign GM, I retain full authority over the content of the newsfax, and may use all, some, or none of the submitted text, at my discretion.
5. Submitted text is given freely, with no claim to copyright. No Lords 20 newsfaxes may be copyrighted by any person.
PROGRAM COMMENTS
The Intercity trade income isn't working for fa cities. If you have one or more of these, add them into your intercity trade income til I get this figured out. The tithe subroutine is working again. Everything else appears to be working normally. I am still using Stats3.1g. I have a copy of 3.1i, but the trade routes aren't showing up as they should. I'll stick to what I know works before switching to 3.1i. Also, I think the University calculator is screwy. Investigating... I have been informed the formula in the version 5 rules is Wrong. I am researching for the correct one.
MAP NOTES
If you still need maps, and can't get usable product from the .gif files online (the best map producers have been PaintShop Pro and Pagemaker), send me a check (10$ buys you the world here) and your mapset will go out that day priority mail. USnail service says it takes 1 to 3 days.
RULES ERRATA AND REMINDERS
Please read the rules addendum, on the Lords20 web site.
Thin Gov't Leniency no longer in effect, and DF immunity is cancelled for the world.
New rules, effective at the end of this turn
1. limits to number of leaders: 1xK, 1xH, (BL)xL, (BL)xA, (BL/2)xP, 1xM
If you have too many A leaders at turn end, the regions will remain full allied, but the leaders will vanish in a puff of logic.
2. Raided (R or SR) regions won't go "hostile" or "at war" (from Raids or Slave Raids), their proclivity to fight back is measure by their resistance on a case by case basis. Poor diplomacy can still cause regions to degrade below neutral.
3. Rulers whose CCR doesn't extend to cover his/her leaders and the capitol will cause loyalty checks. See rules addendum for more details.
4. Children will only be born when the HC order is used, King or Heir only. Others will be created retroactively only when needed for the sake of common sense.
Orders format, wow. Muchas gracias, amigos. Your GM loves you all.
Finally, please don't submit "standing" orders. Just include them in each orders form, and I can much more easily take care of these orders, or at least have no excuse for forgetting to run them.
Infantry (500 men = 1 point)
Cavalry (500 men and 500 horse) = 1 point)
Siege Engineers (500 men = 1 point)
Warships (5 ships = 1 point)
Transports (5 ships = 1 point)

MERC AQRS C02 S02 I03 W03
MERC LEADERS Kai Yamahiro M868
UNITED STATES OF ASIA (JIHPEN)
Tobri Anwa, President of Jihpen
DIPLOMACY: none
Having been run ragged by President Anwa in his previous term, the islanders did just as little as they could concievabley get away with.
THE WU YUE CHINESE KINGDOM
Quian Song, God-Emperor of the Middle-Kingdom
DIPLOMACY: none
The heir to the kingdom buzzed around the kingdom, picking up several local unnecessary garrisons, and returned to recieve command of the Royal Army from his father. Quian Lao then set up is networks of scouts and waited for anyone intellectually-challenged enough to attack. Trade was declared open to all other Chinese nations.
THE HONAN CHINESE KINGDOM
Wo Hu Lei, Emperor of China
DIPLOMACY: Hsuing-Nu (ne), Shangtung (f), Liao-Tung (a), Parhae (ne)
The Chinese Emperor Wo sent his own diplomats far to the north and east to bring those provinces into his happy empire. To this end, he married two of his own daughters, one to the luminary in Liao-Tung and the other to the Parhae Khan. The results were mixed, having considerable success near to the capitol, and very little success at the extreme reaches outside the Great Wall. The clan leaders in Parhae and Hsuing-Nu seemed pleased to have the company, but uninterested in joining a settled empire so far from their own rolling steppes.
THE SHENSI CHINESE KINGDOM
Wang Kso, The One-Eyed Dragon
DIPLOMACY: Kansu (ne)
Wang Kso figured to bring the pacified region of Kansu into the kingdom, and spent his time, energy, and resources to bear in an attempt to make it so. He even gave over his daughter as bride to the conquered ruler of Kansu, but in the end there was only one question.
"Are there still Shensi soldiers oppressing my people?", asked the Kansu ruler.
To which Wang Kso couldn't really reply, since it was a rhetorical question. Of course there were still Shensi troops oppressing the Kansu, taking every bit of taxes they and their king Wang Kso could. Wang Kso offered the standard vague promises to build roads, bridges, and other assorted goodies for the Kansu province, but the reality was that the gold was being taken from Kansu and invested in other regions and in the capitol.
Wang sent word to his daughter in the far away nation of Ava expecting victory and promising a qiuck return home. He was relieved to have his daughter emerge from the battle alive, although her forces were savagely diminished. On a side note, the One-Eyed Dragon continued his enthusiastic support of higher education.
THE HONG KONG TRADERS
Xian Lao, King of Hong Kong
DIPLOMACY: none
Lao made preparations for the retaliation from the Champans for previous raids of Champa. He built more than a couple infantry companies with the financial assistance of the Dalai Lama, and hired a virtual plethora of soldiers-of fortune. His defense forces assembled in the port city of Tonkin, while the fleet sailed forth again, in search of Champan booty again. Their first chioce for a landing spot was none other than the fertile region of Khemer, where they found Champan defense forces massing in unheard of numbers. This wasn't puzzling, the Champans army was preparing to move again. What was puzzling was why there were so many Khemer families apparently on the move. The fleet moved back to Phan Rang, and found... nothing... and nobody. The region seemed by all accounts deserted. The Cochin inhabitants were then the only lucky recipients of a Kwangsi raid. The Champan counterattack never materialized in China, since nearly the entire nation picked up and trundled off to the upper Ganges valley, although the Hong Kong troops made fair account of themselves in Pegu.
THE INCREDIBLY PEACEFUL CELESTIAL KINGDOM OF THE JADE BUDDHA
Kuo Mojo, 3rd Incarnation of the Blessed Jade Buddha, Light on the Path to Nirvanah, Illuminator of the Human Soul, Thinker of Deep Thoughts, Mayor of Shangri-La
DIPLOMACY: none
The Dalai Lama travelled to the Chinese coastline, and issued instructions for his followers to funnel significant caches of gold to the Avans and the Kwangsi Chinese. He watched helplessly (gratefully?) as the Hindu mass of people rumbled through Burma enroute to more Hindu lands, away from the Buddhist nations.

MERC TROOPS 5MC, 5MI, 6MS, 15MW, 9MT
MERC AQRS C01 S02 I01 W02
MERC LEADERS none
THE UNITED MONARCHY OF THE AVANS
Anasakan, The Celestial, Virtuous, and Benignant King Anisakan, Monarch of all Burmese People, Munificent Potentate of Pegu, Dispenser of all Avan Goodness and Benevolence
DIPLOMACY: Sagaing (nt), Samatata (ne), Arakan (c)
King Narathu curiously stayed in the walled capitol, while sending his son off to Pegu to guard the border of the kingdom against the Champans. It wasn't as if Paurin had no company; there was a multinational coalition of Shensi, Hong Kong, Palas, and Avan forces in place in Pegu, building defenses. After about a year and a half of waiting, the Champans showed up. With literally everything they owned. The Champan forces met the coalition defenses in the summer of 947 at the foothills of the Nyaunglebin range.
The following battle between the 120,000 Champan footsoldiers and horsemen, and the 60,000 coalition defenders was extermely bloody for both sides. In the end, the Champans numbers overcame some substantial tactical drawbacks to drive the coalition to retreat. Returning to the relative safety of Pagan, Prince Paurin descibed to his father the battle and news of his son Paratha still in the Champan Emperor's clutches. two days later Prince Paurin was discovered dead in his royal chambers. The stress must have been overwhelming, because even though the Champan horde completely passed by Pagan for the second time, King Narathu died less than a year later. There being no legitimate heir present to take control of the kingdom, one of the displaced nobility from the ever-overrun Pegu province took over the monarchy. Something of a legend for his tactical savvy, and supported by General Kurijaiga, none callenged him. The dynastic failure caused the revolts of all provinces but the homeland, Burma, and occupied Pegu.
THE DILANG THANG
Palpatyn, Emperor Viet
DIPLOMACY: Mon (a)
The Vietnamese Emperor decided he had overstayed his allotted time in Khemer, and urged his people to follow him to greener pastures, and more friendly neighbors. In this effort he sent Prince Darh to Mon in an attempt to persuade his ally to join him in his voyage. They agreed. Palpatyn wanted to leave nothing behind for his enemies to gain, so he sent Lord Angur to Champa and Vijaya, accompanied by about 53,000 soldiers. They proceeded to loot the Chamapn homeland despite to vocal protests and pleas of the people there, nearly none of which were willing to become nomads on some crackpot migration scheme. Aside from a few examplar executions, both in the countryside and in Vijaya, it was a pretty tame looting with relatively little violence.
It was in the spring of 947 that the combined armies of Mon and Khemer began northeast, and they met their brothers-in-profession where the Nyaunglebin mountains meet the Andaman Sea in Pegu.
The defenders in their bulwarks sent a significant percantage of Palpatyn's soldiers to an early death, and would have repelled the entire army had the armies been of reasonably similar size. As it was, the Champans continued to charge through, under, and over their fallen comrades until the defending coaltion forces were faced retreat or annihalation. When the dust cleared, Prince Darh and Palpatyn's Mon ally were both killed in the melee, but the invaders won the day. The Lower Ganges forces retreated up the coast to their own homeland, while the Shensi, Hong Kong, and Avan forces all made for the Avan capitol Pagan.
This was the second time Palpatyn passed by the Avan capitol, with Lord Angur to remind him of the results of their last attempt ot take that walled city. The wandering Emperor and all his people travelled north and east along the coast until they arrived at the next walled city, Tamralipti. At this point Palpatyn became circumspect and set out a flag of truce, gaining the audience of the newly crowned Emperor Narayanapala III. Who was gracious enough to allow Palpatyn and all his followers to migrate unmolested through the Lower Ganges Empire. Not that Palpatyn trusted the Indians, surounding all of his settlers with his horsemen and infantry, enroute to the Rajput region.
The Rajputi weren't nearly as prepared for such an invasion as was Narayanapala, and Palpatyn ordered his men to pacify the locals. The Rajput king Ruhan Naf huddled in his capitol, fearing the worst.
THE JAVAN FEDERATION
Eliu Miki, President Sirivjavan
DIPLOMACY: none
President Singh was idle as were most of the members of his administration. The result was a lost election, as the Javans cast their votes for a more active Presidency.
THE MAAORI SEAHOLD
Wabodon Soba, Son of Sea and Sky
DIPLOMACY: none
Wabodon Soba was rousted awake by his senior advisor, Chou Ta-kuan. His first order of business was to find himself a wife to extend the family line. He chose an island beauty of about 350 pounds to marry, and decided he was in heaven. Within a few years they had three children, the youngest one a son.
THE KATOOMBA RIDERS
Yamma Lamma, Chief He'e Nalu, "Leader of the Pack"
DIPLOMACY: none
Yamma Lamma took his son Yamma Samma on a tour of all his lands, reportedly for surveying purposes, looking for a site for a new city. It was while riding the totally tubular waves on the white beaches of Taree where young Samma found the woman of his dreams. The Katoomba heir and his bride were married the next day, and started a family of their own. Lacking much in the way of cultivated fields, Yamma Lamma commenced moving his economy away from farming, and depended more on the ever-plentiful seas.

EMPIRE OF THE LOWER GANGES
Narayanapala III, Guardian of the Ganges
DIPLOMACY: none
The Emperor's regent also stayed at the capitol, while exhorting the praises of his two generals Bharawaj and Anatharo "leading the great imperial army against evil enemies of the state, who attacked us without warning, caused the deaths of our emperors, looted our capital, stole our women, raped our horses, ...". Those two leaders and almost half of their forces later returned to report the defeat at Nyaunglebin and the approach of the Champans, again. By this time they had a new Emperor, Narayanpala III, and it was he who met the Champan Emperor Palpatyn at the gates of Tamaralipti for what he assumed would be a demand for surrender. As if. The Champan Emperor he met was a shockingly polite person, who not only didn't want to assault the capitol, he wanted to turn over the Avan heir Paratha in return for "unharassed passage" through the Lower Ganges Empire. Narayanapala quickly assumed the guise of having a tremendous army behind his walls, and said "I'll think about it.". It was after 6 hours of celebrating in his castle with his Avan wife that an exhausted Narayanapal returned to Palpatyn's field tent to deliver his acceptance of the Champan offer. Paratha entered Tamaralpiti with Narayanapala, and Palpatyn moved his nation further northeast...
THE RAJPUT KINGDOM OF INDIA
Ruhan Naf, Lord of the River, Life-Giver
DIPLOMACY: none
... to the region of Rajput, where he found no defending army to speak of, no effective resistance to overcome, and seriously choice agro fields. His army took about 6 days to pacify the region, but have not as yet looted it. Ruhan Naf huddled in his castle, hoping for the best.
THE INDUS VALLEY KINGDOM
Mushtaq, Mansurashah, Protector of the Indus
DIPLOMACY: Sahis (a), Siahan (ne)
Mushtaq was flushed with pride in his new wife he found in Ghazni, and commenced the happy practice of starting a family of his own. To date, however, the royal clan has only daughters, although there are now three of em. This improbable occurence led a small retinue to question the queen's loyalty in the presence of the entire royal court. Mushtaq, enraged, slew two of them on the spot, and had the remaining 26 imprisoned by the royal guards. The Mansurashah formed a council to determine the punishment for these obvious rebels, and they offered the following idea for trial. Each of the 26 defendents was to have a child, and the 17 of them who beget daughters was then judged guilty of treason and beheaded. The remaining nine (who beget sons) were sentenced to castration and life imprisonment. Mushtaq's senior diplomat died while in Siahan, and was replaced.
THE CHOLA MANDALAM
Tchen, Mandala Chola
DIPLOMACY: Seylan (t), Madurai (nt), Nasik (c)
The Great One spent his twilight years in Kollam, happy and content to have his nubile (and WAY younger) concubines feed him peeled green grapes. He was heard many times saying "It's good to be the king!". At the ripe old age of 77, he choked on a purple one. He had always hated the purple grapes, so the concubine who fed it to him was given a place of special honor (at Aditya's side) when they buried him. Aditya's already rather old son took over the ruling of the Kingdom, with great pomp and parades and all. In great ceremony, Aditya was buried with thousands of flowers, and one grape vine. The Chola diplomats were out in the provinces north of the Kingdom, and they had moderate success nominally acquiring new provinces.
IMAM MUSLIM
Allahu Akbah, Siadat Kuran
DIPLOMACY: none
The Imam spent his years preaching to the faithful, and ensuring the safety of the million or so muslims on their pilgrimage to the Holy City, Mecca.
THE ABBASID CALIPHATE
Ali, Kaliphat Rasul Allah
DIPLOMACY:Diyala (nt), Fars (a), Cilicia (f), Media (f)
The aging Kaliph Ali woke from his slumber and said "Cities!!! Build more cities!!!!"
He claimed a dream vision where somebody kep saying "If you build them , they will come...".
His aides scurried off to pass along the mighty Kaliph's orders to his subjects. And lo, cities were built in Diyala (patching up some previous grievances), in Fars (on the Persian Gulf), and others expanded in Hahmar (Raja), and in Mosul (Kraznovia). Associated diplomatic efforts acquired two new allies for Ali, and a substantial chunk of cash was socked into the government. Ali sent merchants out in all directions, but the only people close enough for regular exchange were the Egyptians and Persians.
THE MAHMUD GHAZNI PERSIAN KINGDOM
Qara Bachkam, Kophatshah
DIPLOMACY: Persia (t), Baokhara (fa), Turkmen (ne), Khurasan (ea)
The Kophatshah had his diplomats out ridin the range, including himself. A royal marriage for his heir Sebuktigin was part of the efforts in Bohkhara. Qara's own effort in Persia gained him tribute, although it's difficult to tell exactly why. The peacemongers claimed it was the trading city (Persepolis) he had built at the border of the Abbasid Caliph's lands, while other, maybe more realistic observers noted the 35,000 horsemen he had surround the negotiations. In any case, trade began along the silk route between the two nations. The capitol expanded again.

MERC LEADERS Vlad (No not Vlad something, just Vlad) MB28
PRINCIPATE OF KIEV RUS
Chenya, Grand Princess of Kiev
DIPLOMACY: none
The Grand Princess was married to the Duke of Chernigov, and had some rugrats. Her first child died of a coughing sickness at only three years old, but she had two more, both boys. Trade with the Greeks proved profitable for merchants of both nations, as the Russians developed a taste for the Mediterranean spices and wines.
THE POLISH KINGDOM
Piast III, Palota Polski
DIPLOMACY: Saxony (ne)
On his way to Saxony, Piast sent instructions to the southern coastal border of the kingdom to build a port fortress and some vesslels to begin trade with the Greeks and the Russians. The other Polish leaders were moving slaves about to start some major contruction when a group of very uninvited Deutsch guests turned up in Lausatia. Outnumbered severely, the Poles wanted to use their mass of slaves as human shields, but a revolt got started and they managed a mass escape. The Polish commander, general Igor Piast (King Piast III's uncle) decided to let them run, and conducted maneuvers to place his army between the Germans and Warzau. The meeting of the armies was completely one-sided, worse than Igor could have ever imagined. After nearly 16 hours of fighting in close quarters, he was forced to withdraw to the homeland with only a few hundred of his original 18,000 men. His nephew's Lausatian ally was nowhere to be found. After things dramatically turned in the homeland, King Piast III returned to Warzau after making zero headway with loss of serious quantities of cool points with the Saxons. He was mollified both by his uncle's success on the battlefields of Vielkopolska and by some serious quantities of gold arriving from the Pope.
THE NOVGOROD KINGDOM
Vasili Borislov
DIPLOMACY: none
The Novgorodi were unusually quiet.
THE BYZANTINE ROMAN EMPIRE
Leo VI, the Wise, Roman Emperor of the East, "Hammer of the Serbs"
DIPLOMACY: Pamphyla (c), Galatia (nt), Attica (fa)
Leo, approaching 80 years old, lay about his palace in Constantinople happily expecting his diplomats and his heir Basil to bring the known Greek world into his Empire. This didn't come to pass, mostly because is opinion of his diplomats' abilities was highly, verge extremely, overrated. Philosophical debate began on just how long a man could live, and what the effects of living so long could be.

THE SAXON KINGDOM OF SUSSEX
Charles Gloucester, Regent for Merriden II, Saxon King of England
DIPLOMACY: none
Merriden failed to direct his leaders in their actions, and died in 950 AD. His son, being only nine at the time, was in no position to take up the throne. After only minor infighting and posturing, the Duke of Gloucester assumed the throne as regent for King Merriden II. Little else happened.
THE REPUBLIC OF WEST FRANCIA
Firmin Ranier, President d' Republique Francois
DIPLOMACY: Maine (a), Champagne (ea)
The first term of President Ranier was spent in relative harmony. Some cash was shipped off to the Lombards.
THE KINGDOM OF GERMANIA
Ludwig III, Rex Germanicus
DIPLOMACY: Westphalia (f)
Ludwig got a humanitarian hair, and decided he was going to free all the slaves in Poland. He also figured to claim the title Emperor by conquering the neighboring kingdom. Not himself actually, he was going to visit with the Duke of Westphalia while his generals Stein and Dieter took the royal army into the fray. Things were going just marvy, with crowds lining up in the all the towns they passed through in Thuringia. Stein pressed quickly into the Polish homeland with 33,000 men after his tremendous victory in Lausatia, but found his own army suddenly outnumbered and far from home of friendly supplies.
Price Igor's losses were more than made up for with the 45,000 sword main Polish army in Kauyavia, where Prince Igor found himself the senior ranking royal present since the King hadn't returned from Saxony. Not all of Igor's problems were over though. Two of his officers were found guilty of treason in an attmept at mutiny, and he presided over conducted field general courts matial where they were found guilty and executed by hanging. The German's plan was to first crush the countryside and take what they needed to assualt Warzau, but it never got that far. The Germans and Generals Stein and Dieter met the Polish and Prince Igor at the Battle of VielkoPolska on June 21, 946 A.D.. This time Generals Stein and Dieter got there clocks cleaned. The only real reason they still had 12,000 men after their retreat to Thuringia was that the Polish Royal Army was all footsoldiers.
THE DANISH KINGDOM
Adal Engelhert, Rex Danmark
DIPLOMACY: negated by revolts
King Guthrum was steering the ship of state from Jutland, with the administrative assistance of his son, who it turns out he outlived. Guthrum's next eldest son Adal became heir to the Danish throne with about a year to spare, since Guthrum followed his son into the void in 948 AD. Prince Adal claimed the throne, but was contested by Guthrum's newest ally in Agder, one Kolbyr Bannruod. After it became apparent both of the Danish generals were going to remain loyal to Adal, Kolbyr aborted any plans of invasion and declared his own region independent of the Danish Kingdom. While all this was going on, Brittany declared its own independece as well. Papal adminastrators remained welcome in Gormavn, ensuring a the continued steady flow of taxes into the capitol.
THE LOMBARD KINGDOM OF ITALY
Giovanni d' Orsini, Rex Sognari
DIPLOMACY: Crete (ne), Tuscany (a), Verona (f), Switzerland (ea)
Giovanni was pleased as a king could be to see his son and heir Mario pick up some of the responsibilities of actually running the kingdom. The king also married off his daughter to the Duke of Verona, assigning Martino the title Prince. Giovanno sent his surveyors looking for a site in the Swiss Alps to set up a port fortress, but they found the Rhein unnavigable at those elevations.
THE ROMAN CATHOLIC PAPACY
John XI, Il Papa, Bishop of Rome, Vicar of Christ, Successor to the Prince of the Apostles, Supreme Pontiff of the Universal Church, Patriarch of the West, Primate of Italy, Archbishop and Metropolitan of the Roman Province, Sovereign of the Papal States, and Servant of the Servants of God
DIPLOMACY:none
Pope John X set up the Archbishopric of Burgundy, but on his way to the south of France, he was set upon by road brigands. His sceptre turned up on the black market in Lyonnais, was bought by an obsure monk in Alsace, who returned it to Rome. This monk became so highly regarded by the Council of Cardinals, they gave him a vote in the election of the new Pontiff. The council elected the abbot of Paris as the next Pope, who took the name John XI. In unrelated events the Cardinal Joshua spent a few years in Germany setting up abbies on his way to Poland, where he loaned the Polish King the use of two Bishops, their associated assistants, and a few sacks of gold.
THE NAPOLI KINGDOM
Enrico I, King of Naples
DIPLOMACY: Sicily (f), Sardinia (c), Apulia (f)
King Enrico found a lovely Italian wife to eat pasta with every meal. He and his new wife proved it possible to eat a different kind of pasta each meal for a year, and never eat the same kind twice. They also did their royal duties and were rewarded with two children, both sons. The king's diplomats were out visiting the Med island kingdoms.
UMMAYAD CALIPHAT AL CORDOBA
Asad Nasir, Caliph al Cordoba, Infidel's Bane
DIPLOMACY: Salamanca (a), Baeleric Isle (ea), Catalonia (ea), Old Castille (ea), Asturias (fa), Navarre (ea)
The Caliph al Asad managed the kingdom from Murcia while his diplomats went about the Iberian peninsula again, where they managed to get the Caliph a fistful of allies. Out on business one of them, Hafez II, died choking on a chicken bone at a state dinner in the northern Christian provinces.

Muhammet followed his advisors' counsel, and had a few children to ensure his line. His diplomatic efforts met withonly limited success, and his trade fleets were shuffled about.
THE FATAMID EMPIRE
Hussan el Madir, Guardian of the Holy Places
DIPLOMACY: Ghebel-Gharib (nt)
The Emperor Hussayn visited Ghebel-Gharib on his way to the Upper Nile for a diplomatic summit., marrying off his children wholesale. The locals agreed to join the Empire in name at least, but the Emperor never made it to Aswan, since he had a heart failure and died in the reeds on the banks of the Nile. It will be as Allah wishes. Farouk's son Hussan el Madir became the next in the growing list of Fatamid Emperors. Al-Iskandariyah, Al-Qahira, and Al-Maragha (in Faiyum) were all expanded, keeping the masons of the empire in jobs. The dockworkers were also busy with the construction of new merchant vessels for trade with other nations, both Muslim and Christian.
THE SONGHAI HERDSMEN
Minkah Kersil
DIPLOMACY: Ghana (a), Arauane (nt), Kurfei (ea), Dogamba (a)
The Head Herder provided a tremendous public funeral for the dead king Osei, and everybody cried a lot. Minkah sent his diplomats out en masse, and they got fair treatment from the border provinces. His diplomat in the desert fared about as well as he could have expected. Little else was happening in West Africa.
THE HIDDEN KINGDOM OF THE KONGO (HKK)
M'Toko, King of the Dark
DIPLOMACY: Matadi (ne), Nambe (c)
The Dark king was in Matadi with his chief diplomat, where he was engaged in diplomatic discussions, and was attacked and killed by a tremendously large python. His son being only 12 years old at the time, the kingdom lacked an obvious choice for M'Bundu's replacement. Aeden's younger brother Illapel claimed the throne, but one of Mali's generals in the highland city of Bariloc contested the young heir's claim.
