Quote of the Month: "I foresee on the plains of Iberia, in a saddening sea of red; may our minds be undaunted, our mission clear, our hearts strong, and our future victorious." - unknown (Provided by Adam John)

Very Important Schtuff From the TOP:

RULES STUFF: We're using the 5.6 version of the rules. Version 3.3.9 of the program. Other things are on the web page, which I've cleaned up. Last turn I used 500 men per unit - sorry. Inflated egos are all you'll see now.

The totally awesome music I listened to while processing these results can be downloaded from http://65.0.5.141/music/. Due to the fact that I'm using ATT @ home service, you probably won't be able to (I got what I paid for :-(.

Diplomacy: None
Chung Wang conducted the census and breathed some life into the Kingdom. Timur increased his crony pool.

The Empire of Nippon
Takeda Ishida, Shogun of Nippon
Diplomacy: None
Takeda Ishida's Black Robed Men discovered that the Bei Song treasury is kept under Timur's bed sheets. Kumamoto and Tottori were expanded, and public works were erected. The merchants were happy to hear about even more fleets added to the Takeda command. Ishida had 4 grandchildren and celebrated with saki into the wee hours.
Throughout the Empire a wave of cultural apathy effected all centers of learning. Luckily Takeda had little to lose in this regard.

The Kin Empire
Kip Kamatari, Emperor of Korea, Protector of Northern China
Diplomacy: None
Hsui expanded Tianjin, Qingdao, and Ta'tung, but found that the wild lands of Anshan hindered his efforts at road building to Koguryo. In 1372 Hsui Kamatari passed away, leaving the 17 year old Kip to rule the empire. Many of the large land owners decided that Kip was weak and decided to flex their own muscles as Anshan, Bandao, Hopei, Hsuing'nu, Silla, and Yen revolted.

The Khemer Empire of Kambuja
Dinth Tranh the treacherous, Emperor of the Khemers, Cloak of the Buddha, Mask of Hidden Glory, Master of the Lotus Throne
Diplomacy: None
The feeble Di Main expensed money for a census, but the treacherous Dinth Tranh pretended to be Lon Anh and took the money for himself. Needless to say, the census was a complete failure. Corrupt members of some minor crime syndicate in Vijaya took in most of the money when Dinth saw the ball land on black 20 all the while crying "RED 7, RED 7, Oh for the LOVE of GOD!!!" This wasn't the last we would see of Dinth Tranh.
Roads were built throughout the empire, cities, and finally the army. Lon Anh took the infantry into Hmong, some 26,000 men to React to any foreign invasions. Early in 1375 Prince Zang Po died and just a month later the now heir-less Di Main died. Dinth Tranh took the cavalry forces numbering some 24,000 and declared himself Emperor. Lan Anh, loyal to the royal memory of Di Main and knowing the treacherous nature of Dinth took his forces straight to Angkor to challenge for the throne. He was immediately beset with problems. Whether it be the fact that he was asking his men to engage in a war in their homeland, or the fact that he was a complete imbecile when it comes to leading armies, no one will know. When he finally made it into Khemer an arrow pierced his eye killing him instantly. Without any leadership at all and the thundering hooves of the proclaimed Emperor bearing down on them, more than half of the army threw down their weapons and ran, others surrendered, still others foolhardily attempted to attack with bloody results.
The resulting fallout in the provinces was probably worse than the fighting at home as region after region refused to acknowledge Dinth Tranh. Champa, Cochin, Hmong, Johor, Kedah, Lampang, Mison, Mon, and Preikuk revolted, leaving the Empire's trade intact.

The Khemer Empire of Burma
Dinth Shan the True, Emperor of the Khemers
Diplomacy: None
Ah Shan died in 1374 after inking a deal with Chola. His son Dinth Shan took the throne. Paghan was increased as well as new public works installed throughout the homeland.

The Chola Mandalam Empire
Remesevka I, Chola Emperor of Mandalam, the Left hand of Vishnu
Diplomacy: Chela(A)
22 cities expanded, although Raishah nearly got renamed. Surat and Tanjore even got some walls this time. More than 25,000 troops were either built or upgraded. Remesevka attempted to bridge the Brahmaputra at Palas, but his engineers said it would require more than pontoons at the wide mouth of the great river.
Lieutenant Mawgli died early in 1371 and so the "defense" of Sirinigar would have to wait. Chela was the latest region to feel the gang-bang diplomacy style that the Chola are notorious for. Abhata, son of Remesevka married the daughter of the new ally.
In other news, terrorists attacked the religious enclaves around Tanjore and Surat. No one has stepped forward to claim responsibility as yet, but the Left Hand of Vishnu really needs to know what the Right Hand is doing and soon... Secular and Religious tensions flared in the markets on Kutch once again leaving many to believe that with the rising religious awareness in the Empire that it would stifle trade and technological progression.
Remesevka paid the Grand Master Siddhartha an incredible sum of gold in what appeared to be extortion for some as yet unknown activities... Stay tuned young sleuths.

The Hindu Primacy
Niraj Pdesh, Blessed by the One's whom follow the path

Niraj personally set up a tithe on the Chola Mandalam people then set about to spread his influence like a wildfire or virus or something like that. Vishnu was pleased. The distrusting Remesevka, always one to place greed above god, surprisingly succumbed to the will of the people. Niraj stated that a new Golden Age of Brahman has finally emerged. The investments in Infrastructure paid off - more to lend!

The Khanate of Scythia
Ali ar-Rahani, Khan of the Scythians, Lord of Afghanistan
Diplomacy: Alamut(f)
Ali ar-Rahani sent his second son Mohammad ar-Rhani to the Imam along with such technological marvels as medicine from Mansura, since the Imam still believed that all you need is weed. Hey, that sounds like a catchy tune. All you need is.... Kabul grew and the road was completed to Dasht'al'kavir. Samir's wife died in 1375 after bearing him a son and two twin daughters. At some point in the near future Ali might not need to rule continually if he keeps investing like he's doing.

The Emirate of Turkman
Umman al-Maues, Shah of Bukhara, Emir of Merv
Diplomacy: None
Umman completed his road projects up into the wilds of Kuldja and Kashgar reaping him countless benefits. He also initiated trade with the Chin across the ancient Silk Route.

The Safavid Empire of Basra
Nur'al-Din ibn Sali, Shah of Baghdad, Spokesman of God, Chosen of Allah, Guide of the Faithful, Most Learned of the Holy
Diplomacy: Media(neutral) Diyala(t) Zagros(t)
Nur'al-Din continues rebuilding the nation; engineers on the postal road projects complained that without bridges, the roads were useless, so the funding was withheld, and further attempts were made to re-integrate some of the regions which left the fold. Government increased. Tech increased. The city of Al-Zagros was built. May Allah's light shine upon the Empire.

The Madragian Emirate of Aleppo
Abbas Al-Madrag The Cunning, Emir of Aleppo, Servant of Allah, Guardian of the Western March
Diplomacy: At the point of a saber...
Abbas, the Cunning, set out at the head of his nearly 30,000 man army and proclaimed "The cowardly Rawadid Stole some of our treasury to pay you, my loyal troops! Go, go men of Aleppo, let us kill them, take their gold, conquer their pathetic country - that'll teach them to steal your paychecks!" Abbas pacified Cilicia early in 1371 and set up winter quarters in Adana. Early in 1372, Abbas moved north into the newly independent and rebellious Pamphyla intent on forcing tribute from them. Abbas cowed them into submission, losing only a little more than two thousand men. The true test was in Psidia itself, where Abbas met Khalid II himself with more than eight thousand horse. Abbas outnumbered him by more than three to one, but what really mattered most was the fact that Khalid had no battle experience to speak of and so depended upon his second in command to assist. Even this did not stop the high quality cavalry and siege forces of Abbas, as he quickly routed all of Khalid's forces in the summer of 1373. Khalid was captured along with the relatively large Rawadid treasury. Not leaving a garrison, Psidia was left to it's own devices, no longer the center of a once proud Anatolian kingdom. Abbas returned to Aleppo a hero with titles bestowed upon him by the Imam himself.
The tax situation was another story as the government had not nearly enough capacity to manage it. Syria withdrew it's claimed status.

The Holy Imam of All Islam
Imam Khemeni, the Highest Follower of Al'lah
Diplomacy: Amman(AB) An-najaf(MN) Aqaba(AB) Damascus(CH) Mosul(AB) Azerbaijan(ea)
The Imam was greatly concerned when he learned that Mullah Khallikan had died in 1373, fearing that the new legate would be unable to fill Khallikan's shoes and thus reduce further his tenuous grip on the Grand Mosque. His fears were quelled when Mullah Hazim proved a true and worthy administrator.
Sheik Ali Ibn Omar, the 15 year young prince from the Mamluke assisted Mullah Omar upgrading the sites connecting to the Grand Mosque. Sheik Mohamad ar'Rhani, the 20 year young prince from Scythia extracted a tithe on the Madragian Emirate. Sheik Mustapha, the 50 year old twin brother of the heir to the Turkman throne was seen in Azerbajian making a land grab, the only land held by the Imam. Technology poured in from all Islam states, with language differences and even theological differences hindering the adoption - but adoption was achieved. The Imam promised to Unite the Faith.

The Rawadid Emirate of Anatolia
     Crushed like a bug.

The Mamluke Sultanate of Egypt
Majid ibn Mohammad, Sultan of Egypt, Ruler of the Upper and Lower Nile, Defender of the Holy Land, Master of the Seven Seas, Sword of Allah, Invincible Overlord of the Mamluke Empire
Diplomacy: Cyrene(NT) Tripolitania(T)
In his old age, Majid decreed that Citadels are for wimps and bookkeepers. He ripped down more than half of them in a spree of city expansions. He replaced most of the walls on the newly expanded cities, though, so don't get any ideas. Trade was totally reconfigured as well. It was announced that due to agreements with Germany and the removal of German troops causes Egypt to consider the state of war to be ended and the time is right for resumption of trade.
Agan ibn Omar took all the mobile troops in the Sultanate under his command and sat in Mansura. He had a daughter in 1371, but his wife died in childbirth in 1372. Both of Majid's daughters, Nitocris and Hapshetshut married into royal families in Tripolitania and it's port city.
Osman cancelled out Mustafa's administration effects, leading to tax headaches for Majid in the coming years.

The Sultanate of Sheba
Dauad ibn Metmet, Sultan of Sheba, Patriarch of Islam
Diplomacy: Oman(still friendly)
Dauad increased the size of a couple cities, built some public works, and sent out some trade fleets. The only thing he couldn't do was sire some more children, and at his age, 57, it might be considered a little late for that. Fun trying though.

The Coptic Kingdom of Aksum
Tobin IV, King of Aksum, Negus Negesti, Lord of the Coptic Wilderness, Lion of Judah
Diplomacy: Comoros(NT)
Tobin IV commissioned the expansion of Sannar, Sella and a new port named Charuls on Socotra. His son, Tobin V conducted the census and then died near the end of 1375.

The Coptic Prelate
Arch Prelate Zardoz the First, Shepard of the Flock, Lord of Hosts, Keeper of the Holy Relic
Diplomacy: Bur Sudan(AB)
Under a cloud of secrecy Benjamin of Sannar took a fleet of heavy warships far to the south around Zanzibar. From there he attempted to raid and pirate the neighboring regions. He wasn't seen again, but coincidentally the mercenary bands around that area have some new shipping.

Takrur saw Ali the slaver heading their way and hid behind the walls of Okoikoi. He threw close to 6,000 men at the city, which retaliated, knowing that they would be enslaved, with close to 8,000 men, women, and children pouring burning oil, firing well aimed arrows, and even a couple catapulted cows. Ali did well in the first skirmish, dishing out 3 times as much damage to the enemy as he took, but he was unable to break the walls. In his second attempt he was wounded and forced to withdraw to Gambia.

The Almohad Emirate of Morocco
Sayid ibn Mustafa, Emir of Morocco
Diplomacy: None
Money and technology was sent to the Imam via the new trade fleet to El'Iskandria. Sayid better able to collect his taxes - maybe the amount he paid the tax collectors equalled the amount that they'll bring in.

The Kingdom of Aragon
Catherine I, Queen of Aragon, Restorer of the Faith
Diplomacy: None
Catherine threw up walls around Saragossa and fielded some sixteen thousand men and instructed Pedro to open a big can 'o whupass on her sister. She stayed at home, ruled and yup, you guessed it, couldn't keep away from the man toy. Through much pain and agony she had delivered a daughter in 1371.
Asok was sent from Aragon to Galacia to pick up 800 men. He marched those men back across the country to Valencia to pick up 600 more men. After a full two years, he finally arrived back in Aragon. In the spring on 1373, Pedro marched less than 14,000 into New Castile and Maria's waiting forces.
The battle raged, as Maria's military training gave her the edge. Even though she was out numbered 3 to 1, she knew how to inflict damage. She forced Pedro from the field. It was only later learned that she had taken a mortal wound in the fight. Pedro liberated New Castile later that year. He went on to take Murcia. In the spring of 1374 he marched on Granada. Asok died later that year.

The Roman Catholic Church
John Mark III, Bishop of Rome, Pontiff of the Apostolic & Reformist Catholic Church, Successor of the Prince of the Apostles, Servant of the Servants of God
Diplomacy: None
The Secretary General was unsuccessful at increasing the church's influence over Aragon. In other news, the influence in Andalusia slipped due to lack of maintenance, and the fact that the Pope pulled bureaucrats away from Christopher.
Rome was expanded and Pope John declared that the Vatican was free of its Feudal legacy. The German religious strength was increased, but not Britania. As a matter of fact, due to the fear, uncertainty and doubt in northern England, especially after a church in Strathclyde was burned to the ground, the Pope's influence over Britania faltered completely. This had a net effect of removing the tithe from Britania. More rumors of Irish cult activities surfaced around the Isle of Man.

The Kingdom of Greater Britannia
Richard II, King of Greater Britannia, Grand Duke of Flanders, Keeper of the Irish Talisman of Faith
Diplomacy:
Richard fretted over his bureaucracy, improved public works throughout the Kingdom and built a large cathedral in Paris, named Notre Dame. Meant to hold the royal ragalia, Kings from Ireland, Queens from Flanders, and also a place of royal coronations and weddings. Lastly, it contains a private chapel, very posh and hush hush, you know, for the royal family. Prince Henry had a son baptised there in 1375. After what seemed like an eternity, Richard saw his infrastructure increase.

The Holy Roman Empire of the German Nation
Henry, King of Bavaria, Kaiser of the German Reich, Roman Emperor of the West
Diplomacy: Calabria(fa) Carinthia(FA-to Hungary)
Henry increased St. Omar and spent nearly double his net income on public works in across the countryside. Talk about a tax refund - your gold at work! He finally saw the conversion to an Open society come to fruition. Unfortunate he didn't spend nearly enough on a census. Baron Prien attempted to wine and dine a couple pieces of Hungary. Bishop Leinster sucked at administration, it's a good thing Margarethe was there to help him out.

The Avar Kingdom of Hungary
